I bought the Double Tap .40 hard cast thinking I might switch out my .357 for my M&P 40 for a woods gun on hikes and while hunting. In my own non-scientific *********** comparison tests using stacked cedar fence boards, the Double Tap only penetrated one more board than Blazer Brass 180 FMJ in the same caliber. An improvement for sure, but my .357 with Buffalo Bore hard cast 180 gr penetrated twice as many boards. Nothing wrong with the Double Tap, I just think there’s only so much that caliber is capable of, so I’m sticking with .357 for woods carry.
